Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive option that gives your face a revitalized look and texture. Almost immediately after the procedure, you’ll see renewed skin!

Dermaplaning can be performed on small areas of the skin or the entire face and can be used alone or in conjunction with other procedures such as chemical peels. When performed prior to other treatments, can remove the “peach fuzz” which can trap excess dirt and oil. And after the procedure, you’ll notice your makeup going on much smoother.

The treatment gives the skin a smoother and brighter appearance by removing the top 2 layers of the skin. This procedure is most often used to improve the look of facial skin that has shallow acne scars, fine lines and hyperpigmentation (brown spots) and can sometimes be used to remove pre- cancerous growths called keratosis.

What are the benefits?

  • Skin feels smoother

  • Healthy, youthful glow

  • Brighter skin complexion

  • Helps makeup application appear flawless

  • Skin care products penetrate deeper

  • Helps skin care products work more effectively

Is Dermaplaning a safe procedure?

When performed by a well trained professional such as ourselves dermaplaning is very safe. It's painless with zero down time.

Will my hair grow back thicker?

No. This is physiologically impossible. There are two types of hair that grow on your body. Vellus hair, which when cut or removed will grow back the same size and shape, therefore, the main structure of vellus hair does not change and is not altered by dermaplanning. Terminal hair however, is physiologically coarse. When this hair type is cut will always grow back coarse. Dermaplaning is designed to treat the vellus hair which is located on the face. Once vellus hair is cut it will maintain a blunt edge and this blunt edge will not physiologically alter the hair itself.

What areas can be treated?

Dermaplanning is performed on the face only.

How often is the procedure performed?

Dermplanning is usually performed every 4-6 weeks. Treating the skin in this manner actually removes about 3-4 weeks worth of dead skin cells. The skin needs to complete its normal thirty day rejuvenation cycle before the treatment is done again.

Recommended Dermaplaning Combinations:

  • Dermaplaning + Chemical Peel

  • Dermaplaning + Microneedling

  • Dermaplaning + LED light therapy add on

  • Dermaplaning + High Frequency add on

What skin types/conditions can be treated?

All skin types may benefit from dermaplaning even sensitive skin. Dermaplaning is not preformed on active acne.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Avoid exfoliants such as glycolic acid, retinol/retinoid, and scrubs 48-72 hours before your treatment to reduce signs of sensitivity.
